Elected by the membership of IRIS to a three-year seat on the IRIS Board of Directors, Reed will guide the continued work of the consortium creating trusted, independent data about the impact of research. IRIS provides credible data and rigorous findings about the productivity and public value of the research enterprise to inform effective policy-making, support outreach, aid in research management, and expand the state of knowledge. IRIS is based at the University of Michigan.
Reed was also chosen to chair the MBDH Steering Committee, where he will provide leadership and guidance. The MBDH is a network of regional institutions created to facilitate collection, management, and use of complex information, creating active partnerships of experts and resources to address grand challenges for society and science. MBDH is based at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is a partnership of the University of Michigan, Iowa State University, Indiana University, the University of North Dakota, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
