Dr. Peg AtKisson will return to the University of Iowa campus on Oct. 24 to lead a daylong seminar for faculty and staff. The seminar, titled “Planning and Writing Successful Grant Proposals”, provides interactive instruction in all phases of grant writing, from the initial decision to apply through proposal submission, including how to write for peer review.
Hosted by the Office of Research and Economic Development and the Carver College of Medicine’s Office of Faculty Affairs and Development, the seminar combines lecture format with many opportunities for questions and discussion. Participants will leave the seminar with concrete and actionable tools for grant submission, and well as handout materials for future reference.
The registration fee for the seminar, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m at the University Club, is $150. The fee includes the supplemental materials and lunch. Additional information about the workshop and registration information are available on our website.
AtKisson earned her doctorate in neuroscience from Tufts University in 2001, after working in cell and cancer biology. She has been involved in bringing in more than $140 million in funded grants from such agencies as the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the W. M. Keck Foundation. Before founding the AtKisson Training Group, she worked as a presenter and consultant, providing grant writing training at universities across the United States, both in lecture format and with individual faculty members in one-on-one consultations.
