Jennifer Lassner
University of Iowa Office of Research and Economic Development oversight of safety and compliance related to research has been combined into a single position, effective this fall.

Jennifer Lassner, Senior Assistant Vice President for Research, is overseeing those areas in addition to managing the organization’s broader research administration activities. This includes taking over responsibilities previously held by the Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance, a position eliminated earlier this year to improve efficiency and coordination.

Lassner was named Senior Assistant Vice President in November 2016, overseeing the Division of Sponsored Programs, the Research Development Office, and all safety and compliance programs for animal research, human subject protocols and environmental health.

She served as Assistant Vice President for Research and Economic Development from 2013-2016,  Executive Director of the UI Division of Sponsored Programs from 2011-2016, and as the division’s Senior Associate Director from 2006-2011. She holds an MBA from the University of Iowa, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and psychology from Luther College.

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development provides resources and support to researchers and scholars at the University of Iowa and to businesses across Iowa with the goal of forging new frontiers of discovery and innovation and promoting a culture of creativity that benefits the campus, the state, and the world.
