For the second year in a row, undergraduate and graduate student researchers will be featured on banners throughout downtown Iowa City in early 2019.
For campus visitors and locals alike, the Dare to Discover campaign seeks to put a face to the countless groundbreaking discoveries, innovations, and creative works generated by researchers and scholars at the University of Iowa.
This year, faculty, staff, and fellow students are encouraged to nominate outstanding student researchers for the campaign via a nomination form. Nominations are due by October 10, 2018.
Nominations of students from diverse backgrounds and that represent a range of disciplines, especially the arts and humanities, are especially encouraged. The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development (OVPRED) sponsors the project.
Because of mechanical issues with the downtown banner poles, the available space for featuring student researchers is limited this year. Featured student researchers will be notified in November whether they have been selected as a banner subject. The banners will go up in early January 2019 and remain in place through mid-March.
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development provides resources and support to researchers and scholars at the University of Iowa and to businesses across Iowa with the goal of forging new frontiers of discovery and innovation and promoting a culture of creativity that benefits the campus, the state, and the world.
