A video and PowerPoint from the Office of the Vice President for Research’s (OVPR) Oct. 12 International Engagement (Foreign Influence in Research) Town Hall is now available online.
Links to the materials may be found on the Division of Sponsored Programs’ (DSP) Website at https://dsp.research.uiowa.edu/international-engagement#slide.
The event was held in response to growing national concerns about the potential for foreign influence in academic research and was open to all University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students.
Topics covered included new federal regulations and disclosure requirements related to foreign influence in research, as well as UI resources for researchers engaged in international research. Participants were introduced to UI offices and staff who can assist them with navigating federal and institutional policies, rules, and regulations.
Additional town halls covering other aspects of international engagement are scheduled in the coming weeks. The Zoom links for those are:
- NIH Disclosure Requirements, 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 19
- Non-NIH Sponsor Disclosure Requirements, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 20
- Conflict of Interest in Research and Conflict of Commitment, 8 to 9 a.m. Oct. 28.
