Mike Weaver, assistant to the University of Iowa vice president for research and manager of office operations, has been promoted to executive assistant to the vice president and manager of unit operations and strategic initiatives.

Working with Vice President for Research Marty Scholtz and Provost Kevin Kregel, Weaver will assist in administering the UI Strategic Initiatives Fund (P3), ensuring its alignment with the university’s strategic plan and tracking the progress and return on investment of P3-funded projects.

A UI employee since 2011, Weaver served as a member of the UI Staff Council from 2017 to 2021, including as its president for the 2019-2020 academic year.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Iowa and lives in Iowa City with his wife, Emily, two children, and their Boston Terrier, Agnes.
